I finally had a chance to look over the Goricke I picked up a few months ago. After putting aside the parts that were obviously not original, the bits that are (or I'm guessing are) invite a few questions.

Some responses a few months ago and some of the components suggest an early '60s date of manufacture, but...................

Anybody know anything of Schurmann rims? The front wheel has one of these, looks a lot like the old Weinmann clinchers of the early '60s, but in 700c and without the spoke dimples. Anybody know where I might find another?

The front hub is Campy, low (small) flange, Tipo-like stamping on the barrel, but all steel. The quick release is flat blade, open "C", and has the record style cone shaped nut.

The rear wheel and drivetrain have long since been replaced. Does anybody know if this bike would more likely have been set up with internal gears or a derailleur. There's not much evidence on the frame one way or the other.

The brakes are Weinmann Vainquer 999, the arm shape/profile much like a set I have off a late '50s/early '60s Lengnano. But they are dark blue anodized, and rather than engraved the lettering on the arms appears etched in the finish. The construction is of an earlier style, but the finish sorta reminds me of BMX components. Does anybody know when these were made? Anybody know where I'd find some faded blue anodized Weinmann road levers?

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the frame. The paint is faded and oxidized telling of years spent outdoors, but the chrome is excellent. Most of the decals (or perhaps painted lettering) have been reduced to shadows, but the head badge is in place, it says Gorickewerke, Bielfeld, and Nippel & co. The serial number is 2685425

I've taken pics of all the above except the frame & fork, I'll take pics of that and the headset tomorrow.
