Eugene Powell asks "... brakes are Weinmann Vainquer 999, ... dark blue anodized, ... lettering on the arms ... etched in the finish. ... Does anybody know when these were made? ..."
Blue anodized Weinmann centerpull brakes first appear in the 1958 Holdsworth Aids to Happy Cycling catalog, and are not listed in the 1957 Aids catalog. FYI, red anodized color brakes are listed along with silver.
