They don't make them like that any more (or do they?). I only realised, or rather it was pointed out to me, that the strange white streaks on the Wells brothers in the photos of them at the end of a 1930s tandem time trial are actually ice!
It has also been suggested that their tandem, with an extra bracing tube from the top headlug, appears to be an E. F. Russ.
