Well, since you can put replacement tubes into a damaged frame which would reuse the original lugs, there's no reason you can't replace all 8-10 tubes if you wish. I presume the ultimate strength of the lugs might be reduced due to having to be heated again, but the lugs are soo much thicker than the tubing that I don't imagine this would be significant. I hope they didn't cut up a good frame just to get the lugs, though.

My ebay saved search for "Peugeot" came up with an unusual auction this morning: someone has cut up a frame in order to offer just the "Nervex lugs" (from a previously-built bike!) for sale:

Is this a good idea? Does it work to re-use "used" lugs on a new frame? I have never heard of this before, but the recycler in me likes the concept--IF it works...
