Sorry about the lack of sign-off and duplicate message. After trying to post the first message, I lost the connection to my Linux email machine. So, I reconnected and pasted the entire message into a second logon to the Linux machine.
After a while, the first Linux connection timed out, and apparently the latest (maybe gnu?) fake Linux implementation of /usr/bin/mail is stupid enough to POST messages when the TCP connection is closed, rather than saving them in a dead.letter file. This is why I think Linux is a bad joke, most of the software is inferior to real UNIX.
