Dale,

Have him check the thread direction in the cup too. It's a long shot, but it could be Chater-Lea threading, which is 26tpi like Raleigh, has a larger diameter (1.45", more like 37mm or so) and uses LH threads on the drive side. (Probably goes without saying that if it's so, not a Peugeot.) Of course, without a cup, he will be measuring the minor diameter, so he will have to add about .040 or 1mm to find the major diameter.

Not that I have one to offer....

I received this via my bike shop dealer list. Anyone ever heard of a 36 x 26? My thoughts are it might have been 35 mm and wallowed out...?

... we are in need of an old, odd sized bottom bracket cup.

We are in the process of overhauling an old mixte and need a new drive side bottom bracket cup. We have an old Sugino Cup which is a 36mm x 24 TPI. The cup size (36mm) seems to be correct, but the threads are definitely off. The threads in the frame appear to be much finer than the cup, so we are guessing it is 26 TPI.

The frame is not labeled but the customer thinks it is an old Peugeot. >>
