I have completed the outfitting of my 1982ish Alan Shorter time trial frame built by framebuilder Barry Chick.

Full details and photos, for those interested, may be found in my Wooljersey album:

This is quite different from my other road machines, being built up in classic British time trial fashion with the lightest components of the era: Roval wheelset, Huret Jubilee Mk III rear derailleur only, Weinmann 500s, Modolo levers, 3ttt Superleggere bars and saddle, Campagnolo titanium SR bb and pedals, Omas headset etc to give a built up weight of 17 1/2 lbs. When I can source Campag SR titanium pista pedals without breaking the bank and OMAS alloy seat and stem bolts, she will be lighter still. The 24" c-t-t bare frame/fork weighs just 5.6 lbs; there was no tubing decal and the tubing material is unknown but Chick built with both Columbus and Reynolds.

With a view to "pushing a big wheel", the single Campag strada 56t ring is mounted on 177.5 pista cranks with a 13-18 straight-block six-speed Maillard alloy freewheel and it all works on a 10 3/4" bb and negligable toeclip overlap. It came as a pleasant surprise to find I could manage on 56t/13t throughout our first ride together and she flies given enough clear roadway. What she really wants is the Bath Road on a crisp Sunday early morning.

I rather think she's a nice job all round.
