Just did this a few weeks ago. Took a file and some emery paper to a set. Got rid of all the seams and molding flaws. Smoothed them out and took them to the buffer. Came out quite nice.
I also took of the plating on the pivot bolt bolts and polished up the brass. Was a great finishing touch.
