Subject: [CR] Weinmann hoods from Grand Bois in Japan

I received a set of the Weinmann tan reproduction brake lever hoods from Grand Bois in Japan.

Have to say that they can pass for the originals.

Another CR member wrote that they looked a little translucent compared to the original Weinmann hoods. I remember Weinmann hoods ranging from a light tan color to dark brown, The dark ones were usually old stock.

DIA-COMPE made some that were almost translucent but they too ranged from honey brown to a darker color.

They cost me ~$40 with shipping. Exact price depends on Yen/Dollar exchange rate.

How long ago has it been since Weinmann stopped making brake hoods?

I figure that these hoods are priced somewhere in the middle of what Weinmann hoods have been selling for on eBay.

After waiting for a week for several auctions to end and then loosing out, I figure I'm getting fresh rubber in these repops so the price was worth it to me.

I ordered them on April 30th and they arrived yesterday May 5th.

Here's their website for the hoods:
