Subject: [CR] My Peugeot mixte's custom "twin lateral" bottle cage mount

Dear John and friends,

As promised, here at last are the photos of my home-made "custom" water bottle cage mounting plate on the twin lateral stays of my early-1970s Peugeot UO-18 town bike. (This is the same bike that was stolen April 4 and returned to me on May 1.)

The mounting plate was made of 1/8-inch or 3/16-inch (post-1983) hardware store aluminum stock because it was cheap, accessible, and easy to work. (One could also use wood, steel, cast iron, or even 531 or Columbus SP if one could find flat stock... :-)

I painted it with a basic white gloss enamel spray paint, also from the hardware store. The padded wire clamps also came from the hardware store, but you may want to use rack mounting hardware or make your own padded clamps.

Please email me off-list if you have any questions on how I did this simple project.

Regards,

Jon Spangler getting ready for Bike to Work Day tomorrow in Alameda, CA USA (My shift at the Webster Street Energizer Station starts at 6 AM.)
