Subject: [CR] BVVW: Local Events Reminder!

Just a reminder to all local BVVW members: We have TWO fantastic "on-topic" bike events here in Brooklyn this weekend!

TODAY, SATURDAY the 15th of May : COAST/ROSKO OPEN SHOP & BBQ BLOCK PARTY

Two local "Keeper of the Flame" custom framebuilders, Johnny Coast and Seth Rosko, will open their shop doors and welcome people to watch framebuilding/brazing/welding demos.  There is also a sky high pile of hot dogs and a keg with our name on it!  Local bicycle advocacy group Times Up! will be hosting a ride to the shop, located in fabulous Bushwick.  The ride has two starting locations: one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. You are of course more than welcome to skip the ride and head straight into the depths of beautiful Bushwick Brooklyn for some bbq, live DJ and bike geekery. Just steps from the J-M-Z train! TOMORROW, SUNDAY the 16th of May : THE BROOKLYN BIKE JUMBLE

After a wildly successful kick off last spring, our own Harry Schwartzman has organized another BK Cycle Jumble, again at The Old Stone House in Park Slope, Brooklyn. (Buy my stuff) A fantastic swap with LOTS of vendors, display bikes and great attendance.  (Buy my stuff) This years event coincides with the Fifth Avenue Street Fair, so there will be tons of foot traffic (hopefully followed by two-wheeled traffic), lots of food options and lots of nice strolling for spouses and friends who might not share the velo obsession.  Lots of us got skunked by the rain at T-Town rain, but tomorrow looks to be a *perfect* day for a swap. (Buy my stuff)  I hope to see youse guys and gals there! More info can be found here:

So come on out to b.s. with your brothers and sisters of the wheel!  Support local efforts to build our community and celebrate that which we all love: the vintage and handmade bicycle!  Happy Bike Month!
