Subject: [CR] 1967 Puch Bergmeister - New Renovation Project - Looking for Guiding Principles

Hello,

I have just purchased a 1967 Puch Bergmeister and present this message as my first posting to the list.

I expect to be submitting further posts, including photos, as the project evolves, but for now am asking the list the following:

1.) Nominal internet searches seem to indicate the Bergmeister was a mid-range offering in the Puch line, do the list participants consider this bike "renovation worthy", and if so, how worthy? I claim no special knowledge of the Puch line and am not really sure if I have something special or just average with this bike. Derailleur is Huret, brakes are Weinman, lugs are nicely ornate, cable routing through the top tube, and many other nice features.

2.) Does anyone have information regarding the original target audience that was planned for this bike.

3.) Does anyone have information regarding the original seat that would have been found on this bike.

4.) I am a hobbyist and plan to put significant hobby-level effort into the renovation including a detailed clean-up and polish and a comprehensive mechanical overhaul. I would welcome any "guiding principles", advice, opinions, or insights from the list that are relevant to an enthusiastic hobbyist in the early stages of developing a plan of attack for what I am sure is going to be a very enjoyable project.

p.s. I also obtained in the same transaction a very solid Schwinn Super LeTour 12.2. Have not yet determined the date for this bike, but suspect it will be off topic.
