Hey Scott:

Be careful to take all that marketing hype with a grain of salt. Campagnolo's metallurgical prowess goes far beyond bicycles (even "aerospace!); and Zeus, while very decent & very cool stuff, is not superior in that way...

Also, the "Zeus components" available on current Orbea bikes are re-badged Taiwan items, (stems, bars, seat, posts). I know, I sell Orbeas in my store...

Finally, you are in danger of receiving the mysterious, out-of-no-where "auto boot" by not signing off your CR messages as required. Save yourself and stay among us by revisiting and following the rules: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/CR_list_rules.htm

Zeus is the one of the few and maybe only manufacture to make framesets and components and this puts Zeus in a class buy itself. The most sought after Zeus components seem to be the Zeus 2000 series and judging by some of the recent high Ebay "buy it now" prices, this seems to confirm my suspicion.

Orbea, originally a steel manufacture, purchased Zeus in the late 1970s (Source Orbea) gave the company the metallurgy technology that even Campy couldn't match at that time. Today, you can purchase a new off topic Orbea with either Zeus or Campy components.

Dan, To some, anything not Campagnolo is inferior. Many people considered Zeus components to be cheap Campagnolo knock offs. Some Zeus components such as the Criterium derailleurs were good copies of Campy older Record derailleurs. Other items like Zeus headsets were far better made than Campy headsets of that era while other Zeus components were... not so good. Zeus was the only game in town for complete affordable gruppos until Shimano and Suntour brought out their gruppos in the mid to late 70s. They offered a lot of bang for the buck. I always thought that Zeus brakes were a little flimsy. Zeus was more popular in the UK than the US. In France, Zeus was sort of like the French celebration of the Italian wine harvest! ;-) Chas.
