Subject: [CR] Atom Freewheels Made In France??

Hi guys!

I have a question regarding the Atom freewheels.

I have Atom freewheels on a number of my bikes. - Atom 5 speed, - Atom 6 speed, - Atom Compact 77 6 speed And they are all made in France.

Just recently I was working on an old Raleigh and decided to "rescue" a rusted solid/frozen/non-functioning freewheel "just for fun"!

After a thorough cleaning, painting the cogs a matte black, and reassembly I looked at the maker's mark more closely... This Atom 5 speed freewheel is labeled: "Atom S.I.C.C MADE IN ITALY"

Does anybody have any knowledge regarding the history of the Atom freewheels?

The freewheel body like most 5 speed Atoms, is very similar to the Regina Oro (splined remover version).

:-)
