The only reason to use index style outer cable is in applications where the indexmechanism is on the handlebar, and differences in lenght are inadmissible.

On a Record without index and with a fixed angle to the frame it is a total waste.

Use normal brake cable outer, with stepped ferrules as needed, until you find some original stainless outer without plastic covering ;)
