Hello Malcolm,

The sun is an enemy to Lacquer.

The modern base coat/clear coat system is the best paint to use when something will be in the sun and will not fade as fast.

Base coat/clear coat is soon to be part of the past (starting in California).

There are far more experienced than I here on the CR site.

Hope this helps, John Proch La Grange, Texas

Just took delivery of a lovely Colnago with original paint.

Should I lacquer it to preserve from the fierce irish sun (!)?

Any suggestions product-wise?
