Well, I wasn't going to make any observations about the 'right' price for this item - but as you've opened up the 'worm can' Derek, I'll observe that I was going to say that the chainset and the saddle are the two most desirable items here - the rest is definitely a hodge podge of cheapo bits.

The current price is about right, but no doubt it will go higher in the next few days.

However, I have an identical 24" Grubb frame (freshly resprayed red with correct 531 Plain Gauge decal) here in my lock-up, and would be absolutely delighted if hack Holdsworth-Grubbs suddenly became the new holy grail of 1960s frames....

Quite right Ian. The Holdsworth era Grubbs used only plain gauge tubing (Grubbs were a 'budget' range of cycles in the 60's).

Also the bars are GB Ventoux (Tour of Britain) type from the 60's ,but he spearpoint stem is predominaantly from the 50's. And where did that fron tbrake come from!!! Uuugh.

However, as has been pointed out, the round CL cranks are worth more than the whole bike.....with Shimano pedals?????? A real bitsa job.

Hi All,

This is a repaint almost for sure - the pix show a Reynolds 531 DB decal on the seat tube and during the 'Holdsworth years' Grubbs were only built in 531 plain guage (as far as I'm aware).

Also - not a track bike as advertised - but the bog standard catalogue road / touring frame... At least the vendor hasn't added the dread "fixie / fixed" appellation to the listing!
