Hello Derek,

Indeed, your email posting of 26 May said your Pro was 1980/81, which may be correct (though it also said it had a Prugnat crown - not after 1977). Paul then posted the following:
> Derek remembered his 81-82 Holdsworth Professional was identical in construction detail to the frame in question and this encouraged me a great deal. After application of some fuzzy logic to four serial numbers listed in documents in Derek's possession, and near in sequence to mine, *we finally established to both our satisfaction that this frame is an 82 Holdsworth Professional*. Never mind that the only record a Professional was ever constructed in 1982 was the sales receipt for Derek's own bike. Not in itself an insignificant fact... ---------------------- The Holdsworth Pro was dropped for one year at the end of 1981. It was replaced by the Nuovo Record for 1982.  This model was only a shaving above the Holds Special price-wise. It was like a 'value engineered' Pro, but reverted to Campy 1010B ends (from Super Rec in Pro 1981) and it got a Tange headset (Not Campy Super Rec).  The Pro was re-introduced in the 1983 range and continued for years after that.  There was no 1982 range Professional.

Anyway, fuzzy logic aside, Pauls Pro was made in the first half of 1980.  I have dated this because I have seen clear pics of the frame number for myself, so can be sure of each digit, and good ID type pics of key features.  I prefer not to comment further on your own frame. I have not seen any real proof of anything, for all I know it could be a wrongly identified trike.  It happens, you would be amazed.
