"The super course never had wrapover stays, since it was an entry-level racing frame, where weight matters, it had traditional flatted stay-ends, not 1-piece cast wrapover stays."

Although this feature may be true, the rationale perhaps not as much. The early Raleigh Competitions, oval-badged, had wrapover or semi-wrapover stays, a la early Internationals...and Comps were certainly designed for competition, as much if not more so than SuperCourse. By the '73 Competition, Capella lugs, no wrap'round and ditto for Comp GS.

Of course we/I may be confusing one-piece cast wrapovers with these other wrapover styles...I would never suggest Don is wrong in this area.
