Garland,

I have a similar situation here myself. In my case it's a '74 Colnago. I'm going to leave the WB bosses on this frame; they may even be original by that time. '71 for sure had no WB bosses; but that's the one thing I would consider leaving alone. When I do remove and fill the WB bosses; I remove the old boss and then take some round stock and grind a tapered plug out of it to fit the hole in the tube. Silver braze in and file flush. Works much better than brazing a bolt in the old boss.

Hi Guys

Having just picked up the '71 silver Colnago that was recently on e-bay, I'm planning my restoration and build up. I would appreciate a bit of input form the tifossi please. 1. I'm going to remove the braze on's that have been added (brake cable guides, derailleur cable guides, shifter bosses etc.) What I'm wrestling with are the water bottle braze on's. I've put many of them on when I used to build frames but haven't removed any. Choices: leave them as of all the ones added, I feel they change character of the frame the least. or remove them. What I've thought about is to silver braze the bolts in place and them file down the bolts and bosses until flush. My main reservation here is the tube is at it's most thin at this point. Suggestions? Anyone removed them differently? or don't get to pedantic about it?

2. When did pantographing equipment begin?

3. What colors did Colnago use at this time? Early Masi frames are easy as we have the brochures. But what about Colnagos? Orange, Molteini Blue, Red, White are the ones I've seen already.
