I recently purchased a '72 clubman. The seatpost I pulled out measured roughly 26.2 (weyless post, no markings), but the ears of the seat tube clamp were pretty pinched. Spread them back out and came up with 26.8. I did not hone the seat tube.
Most of the taylor's I've seen have been 27.0 seatposts. I used a stein seat tube measuring post and it was definitely not going beyond 26.8.
Is this common among this model. I always get nervous about this as I want to use the correct post as to not damage the frame.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
