Jim, I use a self made cork pads on my older CBL rims whic i got some time ago from a different source. Easy to carve with a good sharp kitchen knive and a original Campy brake pad as a template. I used a bigger barrel cork plug, as used in vineries. I bought them in a farm supply store in Austria. Make sure the cork is cut out of a massive cork piece and not the stuff made out of smaller cork bits glued together as found in corks used for sanding or waxing skis. Do not use regular brake pads, they will smell horrible and will paint the brake surface black. Hope this answered your initial question. Regards

Hi,
has anyone had any good or bad experiences with the CBL wooden rims that have been selling on eBay? I have one question -- I've heard that wood rims require special brake pads, such as the SwissStop yellow that are used for carbon rims. What brake pads should be used with Nuovo Record calipers?
On another note, I'd like to purchase, if available, a classic 1960s/70s Georg Fischer bottom bracket shell for a current frame project.
Thanks!
