In 1983, Torpado's third in line was the Aelle-R tubed Super Strada (the pearl white model with pantographed parts). Don't know how much earlier it might have been made with the same tubes. Torpado even named the essentially same frameset the "Aelle-R" model, at the very end of what was left of their original tenure, in about 1986. Said to be very nice riding bikes, especially in the larger sizes.

"Yes, there is/was a butted version called Aelle "R" and it's usually labeled with a big red "R" on the decal so there's no mistake. I have seen very few frames made from it, compared to regular Aelle frames."
Interesting...does anyone know when butted Aelle may have been produced?
Columbus specs from 1989 indicate a plain guage of 0.8
