Any members know how to date, based on serial numbers, Hobbs Blue Riband frames? I currently have picked up a track bike with the following serial number: 46111, then there are the following numbers, 662, stamped at a slightly different plane than the first five numbers.
I am guessing, based on the pencil-like stays and oiler hole on top of the bottom bracket, that it's 1940's or 1950's, perhaps the "46" in the first set of numbers indicates its date?
