Yeah, what is it about framebuilders? When I was building at Ibis, we used to burn Ti and magnesium chips from lathe turning. The big thrill though was our rocket launcher. We could shoot liter plastic bottles 1/4 mile. Big fun!

Chuck,
I just saw a promo for Modern Marvels. "The Potato" is slated for tomorrow night at 8pm.
The smell of the burnt hairspray isn't very pleasing; but the fun is really worth it. I'm curious who came up with the idea. There are lots of "folk entertainment" type of stunts like the potato gun out there, for example the Mentos and Diet Coke thing. I find this stuff really interesting and fun.
The potato gun is totally legal; but the projectile will blow a hole clean through a bag of potato chips at 50 yards. I wonder why it is framebuilders and painters that bring out this stuff when they get together. The potato gun and the 2 liter soda bottle water rockets were transferred to the southern Cal framebuilders by way of Rob Roberson who picked up a lot of these concepts from the guys working at Ibis when he worked there back in the 90's or thereabouts.
