Evans rant. First of all I think it is a real shame that that lovely Evans is being stripped for its parts. It is obviously an original and complete bike in fine condition. It's also got an aluminium Williams chainring, a 50's version of the Dureel. I would love to buy that ring but it will go high and I would be a hypocrite too. If you look at the photo on ebay you get an idea of how long the wheelbase is on this relaxed framem built for touring, which is what Evans were famous for. The 26'' tyre is behind the edge of the 49t chainwheel. Market pressure destroys originality.
Chick, etc. Norris - do you know if it was one company offering pantographing services for frame parts back in the 80's? Possibly Andrew Teague? I have 2 mid 80's Gillotts, one built by Ron Cooper and the other by Mark Joynt. Both have GILLOTT pantographing in the fork crowns , brake bridges bracket shells (top, both sides) and the Joynt frame has it in the dropouts too.
