For a couple of weeks now I have been watching an item - a track bike on French Ebay as it struggled in vain to find a buyer I think the problem has been that the seller had shod it with those very nrrow straight bars etc to comply with the Fixie Fad in Paris..
Anyway, after twp attempts to sell the complete bike for 700 euros, he as now dismantled it, and is offering just the frame.
It is a 55cms *MECACYCLE TURBO twin seat-tube track* * frame. *I think that the frame has recently been resprayed in its silver livery, complimenting the chrome stays very adequately.
The seller has provided some excellent photos so the viewer can see the quality. He is asking 500 euros...not cheap...but there are not many of these things about and certainly not in this condtion with headset, Stronglight dedicated model seat-pillar. From memory there are still some three days to run..
The frames were made in St Etienne in the early 80s until the end of the decade more or less, some of the staff having worked in the SCC workshop at Mercier just along the street. The majority were built from Super Vitus tubing but Mecacycle did offer Columbus and Reynolds..and even Excell as alternatives
*The item is No; 180455256027*
I fancied a punt at it myself, but already have two or three of thse...but none of them are track models.
