The VAR #22/3 tool is indeed a thread tap/chaser for Stronglight cranks, and is what John T. has. These are actually 23.35, even though they are marked 23x100, which would be confirmed by John B's experience. I also have one that I'm willing to "loan" under the similar conditions as John B, I guess, but unfortunately, these are really not replaceable. I had to go all the way back to a 1970 VAR catalog to find the listing. I'm sure they were available later than that, but I have a gap in my catalogs, and they are no longer in the catalogs by the late 70's. And they were expensive. Dealer price was about $45. Another interesting fact is that I can find no reference to a VAR tool like this in other sizes. I would think that there would be a 22mm version, so I'm still looking.
VAR does make a new tool "kit" for removing damaged arms, and reaming and tapping damaged dust cap threads. It cuts new 24x1.5 threads, and even comes with 24mm alloy dust caps (also available separately). Dealer cost for these is probably about $125. I don't stock them, but can order them, of course.
