Right, you had me worried before. Here is my test. I have a realtively inexpensive English-threaded "test hub". Try screwing the FW onto it. If the FW is French, it will go on a couple of turns by hand, then tighten up. It might be possible to force it on with a wrench, but you'd ruin the hub. If the FW goes all the way onto the English "test hub" by hand, the FW is either English or Italian. English and Italian FWs threads are similar enough to be almost interchangable, but you don't want to remove and install too many times when mixing. As noted earlier in this thread, an English (or Italian) FW will thread onto a French hub, but will be a bit loose, and will likely eventually strip the hub threads when great force is applied to the FW.
