It's a conversion of a Record non-aero brake lever. The cable holder has been replaced, and the blades milled and pantographed. The lever body has also been drilled to accommodate the cable passing through into the handlebar.

I've seen a few conversions like these. They are occasionally ingenious, but functionally, they don't seem to be worth the effort.

Another question - I noticed the 1983 Campy Super Record equipped "Golden Wind" on ebay has the brake cables routed modern aero-style under the handlebar tape and through the frame.  This appears to be factory original and not an after market add-on.  Is that really "period correct" for 1983, or is this actually a later model?  Any comments?
