Hi Paul,

Unfortunately, I joined the V-CC in 200o, and my first "Boneshaker" was the Spring 2000 issue, so I'm unable to help. However, Volume III of "Lightweight Cycle Catalogues", published by the V-CC, and, I believe, available from some retailers in the US, has a copy of the 1935 catalogue, and an excellent two-page history of Imperial Petrel by the V-CC Marque Enthusiast. It also lists six frame numbers which have been linked to production dates, including 7334 dating from July 1941, so it appears that mine dates to 1940/41, and not 1941/42.

These three volumes of Lightweight Cycle Catalogues, with articles by the V-CC Marque Enthusiasts are highly recommended; the fact that I wrote the R O Harrison section of Volume II has no bearing on this opinion - honest!

I am about to come back with a vengeance, however, as I have been negotiating with Neil Foddering to take the 1941/2 Joe Cooke Imperial Petrel frameset off his hands. So more to follow.
