Lately I have been meeting and interviewing many remaining members of the 1970's era KAS Team, such as Galdos, Lasa, Perurena, Yanez, Zubero, etc.Among other things I asked them about was the bottle boss issue and the question of hydration during their professional careers which including many Giros, classics TdF's, etc. I was told that they were encouraged by their coaches to drink as little as possible and that over hydration was to be avoided. Perhaps this attitude is reflected in the presence of only a single set of bottle bosses in so many bikes of the period? Surprisingly
