Jack, I have to ask, why would you want to ride it as a faux triple? That 47 isn't giving you much. Just redo it to a 53/42 like it was designed and get your other gears out of the freewheel. I can understand why you might want to do this to get a 34 or something like that, but not a 42. Or, if you really like the 47, then redo it to 47/42. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL USA

While doing some spring-cleaning, I ran across a Strada crank that had been triplized (53-47-42) by attaching the 42 to 47 using spacers and longer chainring bolts. Since the 42 is not directly supported by crank-arm, is this method ok to ride? Thanks...
