A few years ago the derailleur hanger broke on my Pagani-badged Alan, so I just hung the frame in the hall-of-fame (shame?). Several list members offered suggestions on a fix, or grinding it off for a fixed-gear, but I never did anything. Last week I got inspired to help a budding teenage cyclist get on the road on a classic, so I tried a loose Huret derrailleur hanger I had kicking around and it worked perfectly. I used an old 7-speed partial group I had with some other (newer) bits and pieces and he's now the envy of his high school velo club. Great to see kids on the older bikes.
