Subject: [CR] '74 Pinarello on ebay (auction over)

As a follow up to the recent discussions of older Pinarello's from the 70's - I ran across this ebay auction from a seller in Switzerland that had a Pinarello advertised as a 1974 model. This auction has a nice set of pictures and sheds some more light on the history of the brand. This was apparently not a top of the line model with nice but not top of the line components. BIke was in very very good to excelent condition - same flam red color as mine.

Notable was that it has some of the same lug cutouts as mine - including what one member thought was building oversight - the upside down hearts in the rear brake bridge. This was apparently not a "mistake" on this model. Also notable is an earlier/heavier/blockier "Pinarello" decal in white in the normal state of Pinarello decay due to no clearcoat on he decals. This is the same style of lettering as on my +/- '76 bike but mine has gold lettering rather than the usual white. I expebted that maybe all earlier models had gold - but this is apparently not the case. This frame also lacks any engraved seat stay caps or fork crown.

Neat bike - I think someone got a very cool bike for a great price!
