We ran a Regina 13-31 with a NR for a long time. Key was that it was a half-step, with a 40/45 Stronglight 93 crankset. NR won't be happy with both a big gap in front and a large span in back. but did the 31 w/o complaining.

This will go back on a '70 Hetchins. It has Campagnolo dropouts. The top of the cage is stamped "Pat 71". The freewheel that came with the bike is a 14-21. I'm going to need more than that! If the genral concensus is that I can safely run a 26, I think that should work for me. The smaller chainring is a 42.
