Dear All,
I improperly signed off on a post to the list yesterday about my newly-acquired 1976 Eisentraut. It was wholly unintentional; I'm not trying to remain anonymous or mysterious. I am a PhD student at Cambridge University in England, studying the history and philosophy of science. I am also a tax-paying resident of Fremont, California in the United States. It's my own confusion/ambivelance over 'where I live' that leads me to be vague about such details. I should be living in Cambridge for another three years or more, but go back and forth as much as I can. The next trip home to mom will go through Denver to pick up the Eisentraut.
This is actually the second Eisentraut I now own, as I have a 1996 road frame with a mono-stay rear end in the orange and white Oakland team racing colors. I haven't decided how to build it up just yet. The third bike in my collection is a Pinarello Stelvio from the early 90s, currently in renovation (full Campy Athena). It seems too new for this list, but Pinarello steel frames from that period seem manifest the best of Italian steel frame craftsmanship. It's very old school in most ways, so rather KoF. (I also own a single gear, disc-braked town bike based on an MTB frame which I use for winter riding, but let's not discuss that).
I should not have bought the new Eisentraut Limited, from an economic standpoint, but after waiting all these years to find one, I couldn't resist. And living in England in a small town like Cambridge, the bikes get plenty of use.
