Hi Guys,
This is my first post so as an introduction. Born in '52 and finally have a bike older than me. It is a 1950 Raleigh Clubman. When I found it a few months ago, it had sat in a garage for 30 years or more. All original except for brake pads, tires and the wraps on the bars. Lots of careful cleaning and I've got it back to as good as it will get. I plan to keep it with its wonderful "patina' so I have been using Mothers wax to build up some protective coating.
My problem are the brake cables. I am not a bike technician so lets just say they have special "thingies" on both ends of the brake cables. The owner of my LBS is second generation (my age) Schwinn shop and has been very helpful. He knows the problem and will try to build me a set. Does anybody know where I might be able to get some? I tired Harris in Boston and no luck. As it is the bike now runs very nicely and is surprisingly quicker for 60 years old. It just doesn't know how to stop.
