The 1970's Schwinn Super-Record Tires were made in Japan, either by IRC/National, or by Panaracer (does anybody know for sure?)

Panaracer Pasela skinwall wired-on tires (non-Tourgard) are still made in Japan and make a good modern-day replacement. The regular versions have are supposedly more comfortable than the tourgard kevlar-belted versions. The regular versions are the more "period correct" tire to buy. Your LBS should be able to get them in gumwall black/tan with a steel-bead.

amazon has them in 27 x 1 1/4 tree fort has them in 27 x 1 1/8

P.S. sometimes you can find NOS schwinn super record tires on ebay. Be careful, though, as some of these are heavy 480 gram tires, and some are the light ~300 gram skinwall tires, and you probably want the latter.
