Hi - I recently picked this up; it's an amazing looking and riding bike (so when I say never ridden - I have taken it around the neighborhood - and I was told that it was on display in a bike shop in Chicago for many years, then stored). This is a dream bike for me, and I was amazed to find one - HOWEVER, it's for sale as the wife casually suggested we finally get a custom tandem to replace our old beater, so of course all the priorities rearrange.
So...all campy except for brakes and shifters which are Weinemann centerpulls and suntour bar-ends, both of which were rebranded "approved by schwinn". Wheels are high flange record hubs laced to 27" rims; with 700c wheels, the brakepads just make it. Cinelli bars and stem. As I thought I'd be keeping this bike, I didn't take the Brooks Pro it came with, nor the campy pedals as I was going to put my own broken in Brooks and SPDs on (yeah, I know, not aesthetically the most lovely), so I don't have the appropriate pedals or seat. But for pedals, I have a wide choice of steel road pedals (SR, TA) to choose from, if you'd like.
While I am not a connoisseur as so many of you on this list are (and I have been quite educated in the last few years reading this list! thank you!) I do think that the chrome is immaculate, and the lugwork is quite well done; detailed photos upon request.
The ride is amazing - this has a fairly long wheelbase and beautifully curved fork; it's a very nice handling bike, and one of the most beautiful I have seen. There is more than enough room for fenders, there are eyelets, I would think that this bike was designed for centuries, rather than it being a straight up road racing bike.
$1400.00 + shipping; and I will have it professionally packed.
Please let me know if there are any other photos you'd like to see (and contact me off list to discuss).
