Subject: [CR] Philly Bike Expo... Looking good!!

Friends,

My buddy Mary Elizabeth makes custom cycling caps here in Alameda and she will be in Philly as part of the "bike fashion show" that is also on the agenda for the Philadelphia bike expo. (I do not know for sure whether the bike fashion show will cover on-topic vintage clothing.) Mary owns an on-topic Bridgestone, BTW.

You might want to take and wear some vintage threads if you decide to attend, or contact the organizers in advance about displaying or modeling some historically significant duds in or around the fashion show.

There is a considerable "tweed ride" movement here in the Bay Area and elsewhere that is returning to the attire that cyclists wore between 1880 and 1920, I would not be surprised if the Philly fashion show includes vintage threads. (And I don't mean metric or SAE here. We're talking wool and cotton.)

If you want to buy handmade cycling caps that are, IMHO, definitely made in the KOF spirit--especially if you want a cap to match the colors of your favorite vintage ride(s)--you can see Mary Elizabeth's AllOneWord caps here:

Nan Eastep of B Spoke Tailor can make you some nice vintage tweed knickers or other bike clothing if you want some on-topic and turn-of-the-century threads for Philly or anywhere else:

There may well be others across the country who can offer similar services for those wishing to "match" the vintage of their Brooks saddles and older bikes...

Hadn't heard anyone on the CR list talking about this one but it sure looks good!
