Hi Robert That's a common 5mmx0.8mm bolt. It should be easy to get a longer one w/ a washer and a nut which allows you to secure the cable. You'll need to use 2 tools to tighten this set up. Typically two 8mm wrenches or an 8mm wrench and a 4mm Allen. Alternatively you might tap the hole in the derailleur arm to the next English size [13/64 " i believe] w/ the appropriate bolt, but there's not a lot of meat there and i don't recommend it. Good luck. Billy Ketchum; Chicago, IL; USA.
Greetings,
I just went to turn the final screw on a bike I've been putting together since I got it 9 months ago and can't wait to ride ...tighten the cable bolt on the front derailleur...keep turning...keeping turning...it's STRIPPED...ahhh!! Campy, circa 74, I thought it was NOS but it might have a little use. I guess it's possible I stripped it earlier but I don't remember doing so. Am I screwed? I don't feel like buying a new derailleur, but this a very nice bike and deserve appropriate components (I'll post pics when complete). Any shortcuts for fixing a stripped bolt..re-tap,larger bolt, replace upper section, etc? Is this a common problem....any suggestions?
Thank you,
