Hi everyone,
My name is Brandon Gillin, and I am a newbie here. I have a really interesting old bike that, when I bought it at a yard sale last summer, I was told was made in 1959 in Italy. The brand says "Fuchs" -- and the frame is all metal, silver, and the lugs are phenomenal. It really looks like someone put a lot of work into this bike. I have done some research on Fuchs, and there's not much out there. All I have found is this:
1) Fuchs ("The Faster Fox") was a well respected Italian brand by Giovanni Tappella (Milan, Italy)
Tappella supplied machines for at least 10 famous racers, including Fiorenzo Magni. (http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/fuchs.htm)
2) Alberto Masi recently restored the Fuchs that Fiorenzo Magni rode when he won the 1955 Giro in Italy. (http://oakwoodlife.blogspot.com/2009/09/alberto-masi-restoration.html) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyhiEsL_qHs)
That's all I know. Can someone please give me some more background on Fuchs bicycles? They seem to have some affiliation with Masi. Were they all made by Masi?
I'd appreciate any information anyone can offer!
