Hi Chas, Nice bike....a Peugeot fan's dream to find such a bike. It is interesting that it has the Stronglight Model 93 fitted. It must have been the one of the first bikes with this crank set. It is nice to have an all-original bike, even from the point of view of dating it with some degree of accuracy.
My late 1960's PX10 frame was pretty beat-up when I got it on EBay France. It had spent its last years being used by a bunch of kids on farm. The seat tube was packed full of a mixture of soil and potpourri! It was compacted so tightly in there that I had some difficulty removing it. The paint and original decals had been all-but removed and it looked pretty sorry for itself. I am currently re-finishing the frame and this is why I had the details of the correct finish so clearly in my head.
I intend to fit a GB stem and Ventoux bars with Campagnolo bar-end shifts, in a similar set-up as used by Tom Simpson. Also, originally I planned on fitting an earlier Stronglight crankset (model 63 Super Competition), but the prices for these are just too outrageously high to seriously consider.
So far, the serial numbers that we have posted on this thread seem to fit into chronological order at least.
