According to the 1953 Cyclo catalog.

Freewheel capacity. 13-26 when mounted to fork end 13-28 when using the chain stay clip or chain stay braze on mounting.

"A useful point to remember when fitting , when setting the arm, is to allow for one complete link of chain to bridge the gap from the where the chain leaves the low gear sprocket where it meets the actuating sprocket of the gear"

I'm shifting over a Ultra 6 freewheel, it works fine. How wide is a 1/8 5s speed freewheel vs a Ultra 6 ?

Velo-Retro has a circa 1953 Cyclo catalog that includes the setup instructions for the '54 Tourist mech.
