The above images of Somerville 1955 were provided to me by Ted Ernst-thanks Ted! Somerville was the ultimate race at that time. This was the America of my youth It so happens that this was my first big race (the most junior of the juniors) and I finished in my usual spot-dead last. I was so nervous as to be paralyzed. I recall the men's event but not the women's.
I'll try to copy Ted's captions for these images in a subsequent mail.
Perhaps more racers might be identified.
