The Campagnolo SR hub boxes were not any different than the NR boxes. The SR hubs only difference was the brittle titanium axle, which received a poor rap from the beginning. Many guys much older than myself that had shops in the early to mid 70's said that the SR titanium axles were horrible because of the small weight savings they gave; weighed in with the fact fact of brittle threads. I have not experienced first hand the wheel axles brittleness, but I was also informed that the bearing races would always need readjusting because the lock nuts contact with the cone could not be tightened to any extent because of this brittleness of the threads. I would love to hear of others experience with these, because from time to time I see generic Ti axles for sale.
