Jim,
Phil Scott wrote to me and says he has a freind in Dayton, and Wisconsin who restored a Superior track bike, which was a step down from the Paramount and slightly different parts. Sounds like I found a great sort of "garage find". One thing is that it won't under go a restoration, atleast for now. I'll be spending hours cleaning but will post pics over the weekend.
Best regards, Peter ~~~~~~~~

They would be very nice if original, amongst the best track hubs ever.

Jim,
If anything, it's an interesting bike but being a Hetchins owner, I'm not familiar with American cycles. The hubs are high flange but not labeled three piece hubs so they could be Schwinn or another maker. My hunch is the bike is all original.

Sounds like a deal to me. The Paramount hubs may be worth the selling price.

I checked out the Schwinn Paramount Tandem racer and decided against it but in sifting through the small collection of bikes the seller has hanging from his 15 foot ceiling was suspended a Schwinn Track Bike which he swears is a Paramount, but another label on the bike says "Superior". The decals on the top tube are cut away only saying Paramount, but the down tube transfer looks original and typical of what came on the Paramount. The headbadge is a Schwinn badge but doesn't say Paramount.
The Chainset looks like a late 1930s Durax from Britain, but was labeled Schwinn. The Hubs are highflange three piece, but I couldn't see the makers brand, but possibly Schwinn and unlabeled. The gearing is 1" skip tooth. Pedals are British and probably Lycett, but are too rusty to find the makers name. The saddle is a Wright Olympic track saddle.
The full bike is unrestored in original condition. Question is am I looking at a Patamount or a Schwinn Superior track bike. I'd love to add this to my collection if it not a gas pipe track bike. Can anyone on the list help out. The seller will accept $500-600 if I want it. Any thoughts.
