Yes it may be true that a Campagnolo axle can be used as a thread chaser. I n fact obtaining an axle may be more costly than the few dollars for a proper tap to do the job properly. Take my message with a grain of salt. I modified a Park ccp-1 puller by slotting in with a thin carbide wheel so that I can use it as a chaser for crank pulling threads on 22mm and TA 23mm crank arm pulling threads. I have not come across an acceptable deal on bottoming taps for this use. I do have a Bicycle Research 22mm chaser, but I am not really satisfied with it, hence the modified puller. I am fortunate that I have a VAR tap for old style Stronglight threading. I obtained it from Tom Hayes at fair cost. That has been a lifesaver more than once. Buggered "pulling" threads have been a problem since the protective caps became out of fashion.
I might mention that a member in the San Francisco California area once sent me a reference for an adjustable chaser. I wish I had acted on it. The cost was about $30 and could have many uses. If you are still out there I would genuinely appreciate a second chance to locate the adjustable thread cleaner.
I would also like to sell a good pair of un-engraved earlier style Campagnolo brake calipers. Please contact me off list.
