TOWNSEND of REDDITCH TT FRAME c1976 Spectacular head tube cutouts Seat Tube (ctt): 22.5in (57cm) Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm) Rear dropout width: 122mm Wheel size: 700C Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 50mm Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted Seatpost size: 27.2mm In the 1970s the the time trial fashion gurus followed the likes of Alf Engers who drilled out his components and used frames with odd cutouts in the tubing combined with very short wheelbase and steep frame angles. This frame dates from that time and was originally sold by Townsends of Redditch - they did not make their own frames but commisioned framebuilders to build frames for them - many were special orders. There cannot be many more special than this one - just take a look ay the slots in the head tube - these are cut through the head tube - the yellow you see is just a plastic sleeve inside... The lugs are also drilled and as was common in the 70s very short track style rear facing dropouts with a gear hanger were used so that the rear wheel could be positioned as close as possible to the seat tube... The fork offset is so little that barspins are possible. This is one very special frame that comes complete with black Tange headset. The Stronglight BB can be sold with the frame for an additional £15. This is one really spectacular frame - its possible that it was built by Barry Chick who built Engers\u2019 frames or possibly Dave Russell who built a number of frames in the 70s with slotted head tubes. 225 GBP

JACQUES ANQUETIL ROAD FRAME c1975 Seat Tube (ctt): 22in (56cm) Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm) Rear dropout width: 125mm Wheel size: 700C Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 52mm Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted Seatpost size: 27.2mm Jacques Anquetil was one of the brand names used by Ron Kitching for his frames in the 1960s and 1970s - this frame with Zeus long dropout was almost certainly built by MKM - which was part owned by Ron Kitching and who built some really rather good frames in the 1970s. This frame is in very sound condition - the paint is useable but has quite a number of marks - however the Anquetil decals are really very special and worth saving... 95 GBP

NONAME ROAD FRAME c1960 Nervex Pro lugs STUNNING! Seat Tube (ctt): 23in (58cm) Top Tube (ctc): 23in (57cm) Rear dropout width: 120mm Wheel size: 27s or 700C Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 60mm Seatpost size: 27.2mm This a beautifully crafted road frame from about 1960 - its clearly from one of the very top framebuilders of the era - possibly Bill Grey, Bill Hurlow or Bill Philbrook or maybe an unknown craftsman who was meticulous in his work... Whatever, the careful detailing and very high standard of workmanship make this a very special and cool road frame. Just take a look at the brake bridge or fork crown detailing.\u2026 The lug filing is truly great. Repainted to a high standard and carefully luglined it will look stunning... The frame number is 5516 stamped on the BB and on the steerer. 95 GBP

COLNAGO ROAD FRAME 1973 Seat Tube (ctc) : 53cm (21in) Top Tube (ctc): 54.5cm (21.4in) Rear dropout width: 125mm Wheel size: Sprints or 700C front and rear (brake drop of approx 50mm) Bottom bracket threads: Italian Frame Tubing: Columbus SL Colnagos from the early 1970s are really rather uncommon - this one dates I think from 1973. Its been repainted I think about twenty years ago and little used since then. At the same time it was converted to take allen bolt fixing brakes. Its in very nice condition with just a few marks to the paint and decals. 295 GBP
